MLMLstaging

It would be a drama. It would be a big stage with a curtain, lights and music! The only difference is that I would change the ending. I want Desiree to turn into a butterfly or something because in the book she is so dependent on these butterflies (papillons). I believe Desiree is a force to be reckon with. In the book she helps many people, so I want to continue to give her that ability. The whole purpose of the curtains is to have a dramatic affect. When Agwe (God of the waters) sends his storm. I want the curtains to close and the lights go off except for one light on Desiree and Daniel(her lover). I want them all huddled in front of the curtain with lightning affects as well as the sound of thunder and heavy rain. When the storm is all over that's whine they curtains will open up to reveal the damage. I think it has a more dramatic affect and that's why I would use it a lot in my staging. For each new scene the curtains will close so the stage setup can get changed. So basically the curtain will close when we are transitioning from low lands (her village) to church. Then from there to the woods and other village. From there to outside and inside of castle. That's another thing I would change, I image Daniel living in a castle not some rich hotel. He gets treated like royalty so I want to make that come to life more. I see this story as almost a fairytale with a sad ending. The lighting will be mainly dimly lit with candles at night, during the day it will be brighter. Also, when inside the castle the lighting with also be dim to give its  more gloomy look since the story itself ends up becoming gloomy and depressing. Characters would be Desiree (Ti Moune), Daniel (Her lover) Gabriel (Daniels father) Agwe( God of water), Eruzlie (Goddess of love) and Papa Ge( Messenger of Death). Asaka wouldn't really be in this because I feel as if she doesn't have a very important part in the text. Therefore I would probably have Desiree and Agwe as well as Eruzlie mention Asaka, but she nerve actually makes an appearance.
